I bought the second ed of Manual for Ear Training and Sight-Singing and I was pretty upset with it. It doesn't come with an answer key for the student.

I asked my professor to help me a few weeks ago, if she could help me getting to get check my dictations and she said that she doesn't have time to get to correct all my answers from those dictations. What should I do?

Should I get rid of this and buy other? I saw that other textbooks are more of in-class use. So what should I do. EarMaster doesn't come with good dictation exercises in my opinion.

The exercises sound rather unmusical. And I thought since Karpinski wrote a book on Aural Skills Acquisition (which I love), it would have more support for the student working on it's own. Edit Norton won't provide me with the answer keys for the exercises as they can't know if I'm cheating even after I sent them my schools transcript and the link to the syllabus to prove that I'm not wanting to cheat.

Materials for self-study on dictation is a hard thing to get it seems. I don't think she is trash. She would have to spare time to listen to all the exercises because I'm working every day on at least 4 dictations and she might not have all this time since she also work in other projects related to her position. She encouraged me to get this with the publisher but publisher won't help. And I get her. She works for 40 hour a week. Formularycomplete user manual bnfformularycomplete.

There isn't much time for extra classes or extra help. Since I got 8 out of 10 in my first year she asked me to still work on. She offered me to lend me Benward and the instructors manual to benward so I could work alone but so few exercises. About teoria.com i think their exercises are rather unmusical.

Much based on intervals and not melodies or real literature that Karpinski's text offer. Yes, and she does a lot for our department. All students can count on her for almost anything. The only problem is that she doesn't have enough time to sit down, listen to every dictations and get to double check my work as she would have to sit there access my account on Norton's site to be able to listen to it in the first place. Think that I take 4 per day x6 a week = 24 dictations, she would have to sit and do it for at least an hour. She doesn't have the answer key for this book, otherwise she would grade gladly or even giving me some of the answers for me to work on my own. That's a lot.
